Hello! Can you believe it? 2022 is quickly coming to a close and the New Year 2023 is only a month away. These are busy times for us all. Setting proper priorities is the key to peace and happiness any day, especially during the holidays. Are your priorities in line with what is truly important? How about a quick check? Are you worried that every grandchild has an equal number of gifts? What about the size of the gift? And the amount spent on each gift? Shouldn’t every child receive the same number, size, color, and amount of dollars spent? Really? If a child is calculating these things, what are we teaching our children about giving and receiving? If we are calculating these things, what does this say about us? Are you concerned that your outside holiday decorations are subpar to your neighbor’s? Mickey, are you serious? Do people really do this? What do you think? Jesus taught us the proper priorities in His Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 6:33 when He declared: “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you.” May we follow His word and example and put first things first. Someone told me a long time ago that the main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing. And what is the main thing? JESUS: His word, His example, His birth, His life, His death, His burial, His resurrection, and His promise to come again. Thinking like He thought. Speaking like He spoke. Living life He lived. This is the Main Thing!
We concluded our Sunday morning sermon series “Walking in the Light as He is in the Light” on Sunday with a lesson on the “T” in L-I-G-H-T, TIMING. Are we walking in God’s timing? Galatians 6 verse 9 says, “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in DUE SEASON we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” I hope you can come and hear. Remember that every sermon is “live” and recorded for you via Facebook at Harding Street Church of Christ.
On the evening at 5:00 we looked at gratitude as the mark of a growing, giving, glowing Christian. God expects us to be thankful. Someone said that for thanksgiving to be real, it must include “thanks” and “giving.”
If you are searching for a congregation of Christians to work and worship with, please consider the Harding Street church of Christ to be that church. We want to show and share the love of Christ with our community and the world. We love each other and we love others as Christ loved. If you have questions, please know that we would love to speak with you about the answers directly from God’s word, the Bible. If you are not a Christian, this day can be the best day of your life. Forgiveness can be yours today. Put your trust in Jesus, repent of your sins, confess the name of Jesus, and be baptized in His name. You will rise out of the waters of baptism a new creation, a Christian. If you are a Christian but need to be restored to your walk with God, come by the church office or call us. God bless us all to live for Christ every day. MB
