Hello family and friends. Welcome. Can you believe that it is August already? My, my it seems that our summer has flown by. Our students will be returning “back to school” in just 14 days on August 15th with teachers and admin returning the week before. I noticed that all the stores have all their “back to school” supplies out. I understand that our South Conway County School District is furnishing supplies for students in our district. However, students and families at Wonderview, Nemo Vista, and others will be needing our help in purchasing school supplies for those who are struggling with finances during these tough financial times. We can help these families with students in the surrounding areas with their school supplies. Go by the table in the lobby to see a basket containing the school supplies our children need this year, pick up a sheet containing a list of items the students need from the table in the lobby, do a little shopping for a boy or girl, and then bring the items on the list here to be distributed to the Wonderview schools. Shawna DuVall will see that these supplies get to those who need them. I am so happy to be a Christian. I am especially happy to be a member of the loving and caring Harding Street Church of Christ. This is what we’re about, showing and sharing the love of Jesus with others.
We are continuing in our series “Walking in the Way of the Old Rugged Cross – EXPERIENCE.” Yesterday we had a lesson on the first “S” in C-R-O-S-S – “SORROWS.” We have many and varied experiences on our way to heaven following the footprints of Jesus: challenges, responsibilities, opportunities, and SORROWS. We all have sorrows; growing up, learning how to live, dealing with the enemy, growing old, and facing the end of life. Our Father, God in Christ Jesus provides for our needs through it all. Remember Psalm 23? When the Lord is the Shepherd of our lives in verse 1, we have all the benefits in verses 2-6. When we love the Lord and are the called according to His purpose, then we have the benefits that come from it, that all things work together for good in our lives – Romans 8:28. If you are not a Christian, don’t wait another minute. You are missing out on the best life you could ever live. If you are a Christian and have left the pathway of the old rugged cross, come home. Yes. It’s that simple.
Last Sunday evening we began a new series “My God and I.” We often sing this hymn #546 in our books. Jesus was crucified on that old rugged cross, was buried in a borrowed tomb, and on the third day arose from death, He met Mary Magdalene and said, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father, and YOUR FATHER, and to My God and YOUR GOD.” What a statement! Jesus, God’s Son called God His Father and OUR FATHER. Just think. A person’s entire way of life is determined by their concept of God. God is Omniscient. He knows me. God is Omnipresent. He sees me. God is Omnipotent. He loves me. What a fellowship! What a joy divine! What a blessedness! What a peace is mine – LEANING ON THE EVERLASTING ARMS OF GOD – Hymn #316. Awesome! I love preaching about my Father, my Savior, my God. MB
