Good morning. Welcome. We are so happy to be together today to worship God in spirit and in truth. To our guests: Thank you for your presence. We hope you will be encouraged and challenged by what you see and hear today. If you are looking for a church who loves God, each other, and others and earnestly desires to lift up and keep His word please know that we seek to do just that. If you have questions about anything, please ask. We would love to speak with you right from the Bible.
Today is a special day. Immediately following the worship hour please plan on staying for about 15 minutes to hear our eldership present the 2020 budget along with the many wonderful successes we have had this year and the plans and goals for 2020. Following the presentation, plan to stay for Bible study. We have classes for all ages. The adult auditorium class is studying Peter in Acts this quarter. The young adult class is studying Jesus and His “one on one” conversations with various men and women in the New Testament. The teens are studying the book of Genesis. Your children will love our children’s classes. We have the very best teachers in the world.
We will be walking away from 2019 and welcoming 2020 in just a few days (17). Have you thought about your resolutions for the coming year? Consider the following:
1. Follow God’s word in James 1:19.
2. Pray. Every day. Without ceasing. God asks us to. When we pray He promises to hear, consider, and answer according to His will.
3. Think. Dream. Focus. On His word day and night (Psalm 1). There are so many distractions. The church meets every Sunday and Wednesday to refocus.
4. Listen first then speak.
5. Wait. Don’t be too quick to judge, to just to conclusions, to misunderstand. I’m not talking about procrastination. I am talking about being more patient.
6. Be humble. Take the parking space further out. Do the things no one else wants to do.
7. Follow when we should. Lead when we should. Understand.
8. Forget what was. Accept what is. Imagine and create what can be.
We sung this song on Wednesday evening. It is a good one.
I am resolved no longer to linger, charmed by the world’s delight;
Things that are higher, things that are nobler, these have allured my sight.
I am resolved to go to the Savior, leaving my sin and strife;
He is this True One, He is the Just One, He has the words of life.
I am resolved to follow the Savior, faithful and true each day,
Heed what is says, do what He wills, He is the living Way.
I am resolved to enter the kingdom, leaving the paths of sin,
Friends may oppose me, foes may beset me, still will I enter in.
I will hasten to Him, hasten so glad and free,
Jesus, greatest, highest, I will come to Thee.
