Hello. Welcome. Thank you for reading. It is such a great privilege to assemble together with the church to worship God in spirit and in truth. We welcomed another guest preacher this past Sunday, Brother Jeremiah Schnell. I am retiring on June 30th, so we are considering him to become our next minister here at Harding Street. May God bless us with just the right preacher and family to work with us as we ever look to move forward toward heaven. A decision will be made this week, Lord willing.
Life is full of chances, changes, and challenges. Abraham of old was challenged to remain faithful. God promised him a son with Sarah. Though that promise took a long time to be fulfilled (25 years – Abraham was 100 when Isaac was born), Abraham trusted and obeyed God through it all. Moses was challenged to be patient. Even though his mission to deliver Israel from Egypt to the Promised Land took an extra 40 years, he walked with God through it all. Joseph was challenged to be humble. Even though he was hated by his brothers, sold into slavery, mistreated, imprisoned, and forgotten for 22 years, he stayed true to God to save the world from famine. Esther was challenged to be wise. Even though she had to risk her own life for her people, she remained true to God and did what had to be done. Ruth was challenged to be strong in the midst of the trials of life. Even though she lived in a foreign land and saw the death of her husband and both her sons, she remained faithful to God. We too face many chances, changes, and challenges. Our faith, our hope, and our love remain strong in Christ Jesus. Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” The more of God’s word we read, study, hear, and reflect on the stronger our faith will be. Psalm 1 teaches us that when we delight in the law of the Lord and meditate on it day and night, we will prosper in all that we do. We can make it!
The Harding Street congregation meets for worship on Sunday morning at 9:00 and again on Sunday evening at 5:00 (Third Sunday excepted). We meet in smaller age-appropriate sessions for Bible study on Sunday morning at 10:00 and on Wednesday evenings at 7:00. We host a Ladies’ Bible Study on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. Someone might ask; “Why so many meetings?” The answer is simple. Jesus said it best. “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth…but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven…For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” He is our treasure. His word is our guide. His kingdom and His righteousness are our priority. Where He leads, we follow happily, securely, and with all the confidence in the world. MB
