Good morning. Welcome. It was good to be back together in person again this past Sunday. I certainly appreciate all the positive comments regarding the online lessons. Online is okay when the weather is bad or we’re sick, but far from what we really and truly need. We need each other. We need to be together. The weather has been a “beast” lately. Snow, bitter cold, flooding rain, wind that chills to the bone, winter in Arkansas. God is so good to us. He knows what He’s doing. 40 is certainly better than 8.
We have too many of our family and friends who are sick and in need of our prayers and care and God’s intervention and provision. Remember to pray for them. God says in James 5:16; “Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” Our dear Christian Sister Lavonne Chism lost her car and house last Thursday in a fire. Our houses and cars are valuable to us, but they can be replaced. I am so glad that Lavonne is okay. She is slowly and surely on her way to recovery. Thank you to the church for your generous financial offerings every Sunday that allow us to help each other in times of need. Remember to use the “mail box” located in the lobby for notes and cards of sympathy gratitude, and encouragement. Remember what Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Of course, He is right.
This past Sunday we celebrated January birthdays and anniversaries with a potluck lunch together up in the Annex Building. We do this every third Sunday in the month. We are a loving good church. I am so proud of each and every Christian brother and sister of Harding Street.
Geoffrey, Angel, and several from our youth group attended Y.O.U. (Youth Outreach University) in Conway over the weekend. They had a great time of fellowship and study and came back to Harding Street even more excited about Christ and living the Christian life every day.
This morning’s sermon was entitled “Faith is the Victory and Overcomes the World.” Our text was from Luke 5:1-11 about two different fishing trips. There were three major differences in the two fishing trips.
Trip #1 – The disciples fished alone. Trip #2 – Jesus was with them.
Trip #1 – The disciples fished their plan. Trip #2 – The disciples fished Jesus’ plan.
Trip #1 – The disciples fished just “hit and miss.” Trip #2 – The disciples fished with Jesus’ promise.
What about you? Are you missing out on fish? Well, try to follow this lesson in your own life and see what happens!
