Hello. I’m so glad we can be together each and every Sunday for worship, fellowship, and study. Christmas is on the horizon and “Happy New Year 2024” is 7 days later. My dad told me about time and how it is. The older you get the faster time seems to pass by. God is always blessing us, even in the midst of the storms of life.
Please continue to pray for our elders, deacons, and members of the church of Christ at Harding Street for wisdom, guidance, and strength. As you can see from the long list to the left, we need God’s help and healing. Melissa Freeman is doing better after her surgery. Cindi’s brother in Alabama is doing better after heart by-pass surgery. Loretta Ridling is scheduled for back surgery on January 8th. Lisa Reynolds recently found out that she has severe back issues and plans to have further tests soon. Gary and Pam Watters are not doing well, especially Pam. May God bless us all and our family and friends who are suffering.
2023 will soon give way to the new year. There is much to do. Jesus spoke to His disciples in John 4:34-35 and said, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to finish His work. Do you not say, ‘There are still four months, and then comes the harvest’? Behold I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest.” Let’s finish this year out strong and faithful and look to 2024 with renewed enthusiasm to show and share the love of Christ with everyone we meet. People are in need all around us. Prices are high. The winter chill is in the air. Sometimes we can say “Yes” to their requests for help. Sometimes “No” is the best answer to give. We need wisdom, guidance, and strength to know the correct answer.
After a stint in the Teen Class, I am now back in the auditorium on Wednesdays for the next few weeks on the subject “Six Benefits of Faith.” Last Wednesday we began looking at the first benefit: “FAITH DETERMINES WHAT GOD CAN DO IN MY LIFE.” We plan to finish #1 this week and move on to the second benefit: “FAITH CAN SOLVE (What may seem like) IMPOSSIBLE PROBLEMS.” Come and learn.
Remember our “mailbox” in the lobby for your “thank you” notes, birthday cards, sympathy cards, card of encouragement, and Christmas cards. You can save time and money by bringing your card with you and leaving it in the appropriate slot. Also, please check the “mailbox” when you arrive for worship. Let’s make an extra effort to build each other up in the most holy faith by sharing words of love and encouragement. Our “mailbox” is just one way to accomplish this very thing. MB
