“FALL 2023” – Hello and welcome. We’re so happy to be together every Sunday, Sunday evening, and Wednesday evening to worship God in spirit and in truth. Lately we’ve had several visitors with us. We’re so happy about that. It’s October and we’re still in the 90’s. Normally we see the leaves changing rapidly into a thousand colors. My leaves have turned brown and are now falling away. Looks like our pecan tree out back will provide us with plenty of pecans this season. I’m looking forward to walking out back to pick up a few for a snack. Don’t worry. God will provide for us.

Our sermon this past Sunday morning was “TOMORROW – A Terribly Awesome Word.” This one word has robbed too many of us of success, victory, prosperity, and salvation. This one word has caused too many plans to be forever changed. Just like the Bible says, “Life is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.” There are at least three reasons why we cannot and must not wait until tomorrow. Tomorrow is a different day than today. I might not have the same desire to do what I need to do today. Tomorrow (If I have tomorrow) I might be incapable of doing what I am capable of doing today. I might not have a tomorrow. Today might be my last day this side of death.
On the evening at 5:00 we moved to the second lesson in our topic, “Jesus is Coming – What Should We Do?” Our text will come from 2 Peter 3:1-12. Peter writes, “What manner of persons ought you to be in hold conduct and godliness.” What should we do with the knowledge of Jesus’ return? Obey the gospel. Believe in Jesus. Repent of our sins. Confess Jesus as the Son of God. Be baptized in His name. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God; the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the preparation of the gospel of peace, the helmet of salvation, holding in one hand the shield of faith and in the other hand the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God. Don’t wait. Tomorrow may be too late. Do what you need to do today. MB
