Good morning from Morrilton, Arkansas, right across the road from Devil Dog Stadium. FALL is in the air. Did I say “Fall?” Thanksgiving in two months, Christmas in three. We have been blessed with a little bit of rain lately. And we really need it. God knows what He’s doing. I’m looking forward to cooler weather and a relief from those terribly expensive electric bills. Whew! According to the “persimmons” we might be in for a snowy winter. This time of the year my Papa always picked up a persimmon, cut it in half and looked at the seed. If he saw the form of a knife, he took it to mean that we would have an extremely cold winter. If he saw a spoon, we would have heavy snow. If he saw a fork, then we would have a mild winter. I haven’t looked, but others have. Looks like we will be “spooning” snow out of the driveway this winter. Maybe so. Maybe not. God willing, we will see and know. If you have a persimmon tree in your yard, take a look. I can’t really think of time when my grandpa was wrong.

Our sermon this past Sunday was “Are You Sowing the Seed of the Kingdom Brother – Worship, Praise, and Gratitude.” When we worship God in spirit and in truth, we are sowing seed and bearing fruit. When we sing, we praise God with the fruit of our lips. When we pray, God hears our prayer and answers according to His will. When we give, the fruit returned to us in good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over. When we share in the Lord’s Supper, we are stronger, healthier, and alive. When we hear God’s word preached, we come alive because we cannot live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from God.
On the evening at 5:00 we were reminded that “JESUS IS COMING.” When will He come? Today? Tomorrow? Soon? Later? Will there be signs of His return? What should we do? What should we be doing? Good Bible verses to remember: Acts 1:11, 2 Peter 3:9-11, Revelation 22:20, Mark 13:32, 1 Corinthians 2:2, and Matthew 12:39. God is blessing us. MB
