Hello. Welcome family and friends to our website. We are so happy to sing, pray, remember Jesus in the Lord’s Supper, give, and hear a message from God’s word every Lord’s Day. Sunday was Father’s Day, so HAPPY FATHER’S DAY.
It is good to be home after a visit to the Washington D. C. area. Cindi and I were blessed to visit with our daughter, son-in-law, grandson, and our oldest granddaughter. Our granddaughter, Faryn Maxell graduated from Independence High School in Brambleton, Virginia just outside of our nation’s capital. While we were there, we took a day or two to visit some of the area museums, the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, many of the memorials to our war heroes, and finally the Tomb of the Unknowns. I am reminded of the great and many sacrifices those who lived before me made for the precious freedoms we enjoy every day. A big thank you to Geoffrey Bane for preaching last Sunday (11th). A special thank you to Charlie and Ron for teaching the Bible classes on Wednesday. We are blessed. Thank you for allowing me to be away to share in such once-in-a-lifetime moments with my family.
Our sermon last Sunday focused on parenting, specifically dads. Jesus was separated from his parents when He was 12 years of age. After three days He was found in the temple discussing life and living in the midst of the teachers. Jesus’ mom and dad were upset and after some scolding, Jesus went home with them and “was subject to them.” The very next thing we read in Luke 2:52 is “And Jesus increased (grew) in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.” There are many lessons we can learn from this text. The strong should help the weak. Parents must teach children with patience, consistency, and discipline. We all need to learn and keep learning, grow and keep growing. What does it take to grow? We’ll take a look to see.
On the evening at 5:00 we looked at the second of four friends we all need to get to Jesus and continue on to maturity in Christ: Friend 1 – FAITH, Friend 2 – HOPE, then Friend 3 – LOVE, and finally, Friend 4 – DETERMINATION. Hope is faith that is lived. Faith shows itself in hope. God bless us. MB
