Welcome. It is always good to be together to worship God in spirit and in truth. Yesterday was a great day; sunshine…summer weather and summer activities…too many rich blessings to count and well…yesterday is gone. Tomorrow holds many opportunities and challenges. Tomorrow we have plans to go here or there, do this or that. But you know what? Tomorrow may or may not be. Today…only today is ours to count our blessings, to take advantage of opportunities and face challenges, to carry through on our plans, to go here and there and do this and that. What shall we do with our “today?” Live every moment of “today” to its fullest, for God, for the ones we love, for ourselves while we still have time. That’s my plan because the Bible says “For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.” On Wednesday (7th) I made a trip to Louisville, Kentucky to speak at the memorial of a friend who for 96 years lived his life just like I described above. Perfect? Of course not. No one who has reached the age to know right from wrong is. We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. This we all need to ask ourselves, “Have I been washed in the blood of the Lamb?” Have you? What a true joy to be able to know that your sins, every thought, word, or deed can be forgiven and forgotten. Come to Jesus. He will save you. This past weekend Cindi and I traveled to be with our granddaughter for her high school graduation on Monday (12th). “Thank you” to our youth minister Geoffrey Bane for preaching this past Sunday.
Back to my friend in Kentucky…He went to sleep on his bed on May 31st and when he opened his eyes again sometime that night or early morning, he was in Paradise. I wonder what thought or said that very moment? I’m thinking the first thing he would think is “I am so glad I heard the gospel of Jesus Christ and obeyed what I heard.” He is where he is because he did just that. Now to you and me – Our happiness in life and our eternal destiny is dependent on our own personal decision. Have you obeyed the gospel? Do you love God? Then why wait another moment. Believe in Jesus, repent, confess, and be baptized. You’ll be so glad you did. Are you a faithful Christian? I know you know whether or not you are! Again, our faithfulness to Jesus’ teaching and His example will take us all the way to heaven. If we fail in our faithfulness to Jesus, all hope is lost. What does God tell us in Revelation 2:10 about being faithful until death? MB
