Hello and welcome. We are so happy to be together every Sunday to worship God in spirit and in truth. We love being together for any occasion. When you are present for worship, look around you and see your Christian brothers and sisters. We are not alone in our desire to love God supremely and others as Jesus loves. Smile. Somehow it will all work out for our good. Read ROMANS 8:28 and rely on God’s promises. Laugh a little. Cindi always tells me to leave the jokes to the comedians and just preach the word, but sometimes I say things that are funny, even if I don’t mean to. Consider how you can be a better person then set about to make the changes you need to make to be what you need to be. This is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it. How about you?
Monday was “Memorial Day” and so we remembered with sadness and great gratitude our family and friends who made the ultimate sacrifice for the precious freedoms we enjoy. We remember especially our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who saved us from our sins. We remember. We do not forget. Thursday is June 1. Life is moving along with challenges and opportunities all around us. My prayer is that we might see those challenges and opportunities and meet them with faith, hope, love, and determination in Christ Jesus. Thank you to every Harding Street brother and sister who gives of their time, talent, and treasure to further the gospel of Christ in our community and around the world. You and I…We are the church of Christ in the world…in the world, not of the world.
The “Memorial Day” sermon Sunday was entitled “Why Did My Savior Come to Earth?” He came to set us free from sin, to save us, and show us the way to heaven. Our text is LUKE 4:16-21 where Jesus read from Isaiah 49 and then says, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” On the evening at 5:00 we learned about how much the paralyzed man in Mark 2 needed his friends. We all have needs: spiritual, physical, emotional, financial, and social needs. Jesus provides for our needs. He said in Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
Do you want to be successful? I hope so. Success is when we hear the truth and do it, when we realize our wrong and correct it, when we understand that we are only one in a big world but we are not alone, when we realize just how much we don’t know and set about to learn, when learn how to be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, when we understand the principle of sowing and reaping, when we choose only good friends, and when we finally realize who Jesus is and what He accomplished in His life, death, burial, and resurrection for us. I want success in my life. How about you? MB
