Welcome family and friends. It is always good to get together on the Lord’s Day. At 906 Harding Street in Morrilton we hope everyone attending will be encouraged and challenged to walk a little closer to God. Look outside. Flowers are everywhere. Everything is green again. The weather is finally a little warmer and drier. I see people out getting the garden ready. The lawn mowers are running all around the neighborhood. We’re planning our summer vacations or “staycations”…and oh yes, big changes in our lives…graduation. Titus Lawson graduated from Bigelow High School and plans to go into the welding field. Emily Stover graduated from Conway Christian High School and plans to attend college. Lucas Prysock and Ollie Pryor are moving up from Pre-school to Kindergarten. We are so proud of our graduates for their many achievements. We are especially thankful that they are walking with Jesus Christ in the midst of a whirling culture of confusion, doubt, and fear. Go by the Bulletin Board in the lobby and check up on our graduates. We are planning a Graduation Celebration along with our monthly birthday and anniversary potluck on Sunday, May 21st following Bible classes.
It is true that Titus and Emily will leave high school behind, and Lucas and Ollie will leave pre-school behind, however as we all know when we close one door, we must open and walk through another. Paul wrote about his plans for life and living in Philippians 3:12-14 (CEV). “I have not yet reached my goal, and I am not perfect. But Christ has taken hold of me. So, I keep on running and struggling to take hold of the prize. My friends, I don’t feel that I have already arrived. But I forget what is behind, and I struggle for what is ahead. I run toward the goal, so that I can win the prize of being called to heaven. This is the prize that God offers because of what Christ Jesus has done. All of us who are mature should think in this same way.”
Yesterday in the sermon we asked ourselves “Am I Willing – To Live for Jesus Every Day?” We have talked about trusting in Jesus and obeying Jesus, now we are focusing on living for Jesus every day…living for Him in the calm and in the storms of life, living for Him even when others do not or will not, living for Him in life and in death. The young man in Mark 10 needed to grow to live for Jesus. Do you? Nicodemus in John 3 needed to change to live for Jesus. Do you? Growth and change are necessary if we are to be pleasing to our Lord and Savior. On the evening at 5:00 we looked at “A Picture of Jesus – A Picture of You and Me.” Jesus loved. He was completely unselfish. He was ever humble. He is always thinking of others. What about you and me? When God or others look at us, do they see and picture of Jesus? In all that we do, may Jesus be seen and heard in us. MB
