Hello family and friends. We are so happy to assemble together every Lord’s Day and every other chance we have in spirit and truth to worship God, study from His word, and enjoy Christian fellowship. We will sing, pray, study, give, and remember the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior in the Lord’s Supper. If you do not have a regular congregation to work and worship with, please consider Harding Street Church of Christ. We have had quite a bit of rain this past week. The pear trees are bloomed out in full. The buttercups are bright and cheery yellow. According to the calendar the first day of spring is only a couple of weeks away on March 20th.
This Saturday night (March 11) before retiring, remember to “spring forward” one hour because Daylight Saving Time begins. I can’t really see how we’re “saving daylight” but anyway, gotta set our clocks forward one hour. Fortunately, my cell phone automatically moves forward but I still have a little bit of trouble trusting.
Reading the Bible in Matthew 22:41-42, Jesus asked the Pharisees, “What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He? They said to Him, ‘The Son of David.” Consider the following points to ponder in answer to the question, “What do you think about the Christ?
YOUNG PEOPLE – Too happy to think about Christ. There’s plenty of time.
ADULTHOOD – Too busy to think about Christ. I must make more money.
PRIME OF LIFE – Too worried to think about Christ. So over-burdened with care.
AGING – Too old to think about Christ. The years are slipping away.
DYING – Too sick to think about Christ. I am weak, suffering, and alone.
DEATH – Too late to think about Christ. The spirit has gone.
ETERNITY – Forever now to think about Christ. God’s mercy is forever past.
OR
YOUNG PEOPLE – So happy to think about Christ. No time like the present.
ADULTHOOD – Busy with Christ at the center. He promises to meet my needs.
PRIME OF LIFE – No need to worry. My thoughts are on Christ who cares for me.
AGING – So happy that I’ve thought about Christ. Life is good.
DYING – Sick, weak, suffering…yes but never alone. I am ready for my reward.
DEATH – No fear. No worries. Only Christ. The spirit has gone.
ETERNITY – Now with Christ. God’s mercy is mine forever.
Our Sunday morning series is entitled “Lay Hold on Eternal Life – Follow After These Things – Righteousness, Godliness, FAITH, Love, Patience, and Gentleness.” Our focus this past Sunday was on FAITH. Faith is what I believe, why I believe what I believe, and being faithful in believing what I believe. We cannot please God without it. Faith is the substance of our hope and the evidence of what we cannot yet see. On the evening at 5:00 we looked at John 13:34-35 to see if we are following Jesus command to “Love one another as I have loved you.” Jesus called people to salvation. He taught by word and deed. He served. God bless us as we move forward and upward. MB
