Hello. Welcome. Can you believe that it is March already? We will have to “spring forward” in less than two weeks (March 12) and so spring is just on the horizon (March 20). The buttercups are already springing up in my yard. The irises are rising up from the earth too. And I noticed that a little bird just moved into one of my birdhouses. God always fulfills His promises. Thank you for visiting our website. I hope you will be strengthened by my weekly article.
Our Sunday morning sermon series “Take Hold on Eternal Life – Pursuing THESE Things: Righteousness, Godliness, Faith, Love, Patience, and Gentleness” continued this week taken from I TIMOTHY 6. We took a look at godliness. What does godliness mean? Can we find examples in the Bible? What did Jesus teach on this subject? On the evening we took another look at THE VAST IMPORTANCE OF SMALL THINGS. Elijah’s cloud, sparrows and hair, bits, rudders, sparks, and the tongue, mustard seed, and responsibility are just a few of the small things that are of vast importance. God can do great things in small you and me.
Christian – This is who we are when we come to know and obey the gospel of Jesus Christ. How are you wearing it? The Christian life – Are you living it? It is an everyday thing, not just on Sundays or holidays. Do others know that you are a Christian? Of course, we don’t have to wear a badge that says, “I’m a Christian” for them to know. They can see it in the way we think, speak, act, and live. Life is tough sometimes and we often fall under that pressure. Don’t be dismayed. God’s love is unlimited and so are His patience, His kindness, and His grace. If you are not a Christian, make the change today. Believe, repent, confess, and be baptized. It’s not that difficult to grasp. If you haven’t been the Christian we should be, begin again now. Don’t look back. Look ahead to the fantastic adventure called the Christian life.
Can you “see” the Harding Street family growing in faith, hope, love, and in number? I hope so. Our task is to show and share the gospel in life and living. The church in Corinth had problems understanding what their responsibility was (1 Corinthians 3:1-6). God through Paul taught them that their job (and ours) is to plant and water. God will take care of the growth. ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE WITH GOD. Our job is trusting, praying, working, inviting, and reminding our family, friends, and neighbors about the glorious Savior we love and the church that brings us so much happiness. As we fulfill this task day by day, we will “see” God’s increase abound all around us. Of course you and I both know that growth takes time. Think about it. What does a 16 year old need to do to be 21? Well, 5 more years, one day at a time. Patience is required. Eventually that teen will make it to 21 and Lord willing beyond. Of course, after a few more years she’ll probably look back and say, “What was I thinking?”
Everyone person we know needs a Savior and a family like the Harding Street Church of Christ. They just don’t realize that they can have the salvation and consolation that comes with Christ’s amazing grace. Let’s tell them. And keep on keeping on. MB
