Welcome family and friends! Sunday is the Lord’s Day. We rejoice and are glad to have had another day to worship God in spirit and in truth. It is our desire and prayer to honor God as we study His word, worship Him, and enjoy the fellowship that comes from being a Christian on the Lord’s Day and every day. We read God’s word every day and find that the strength of our faith lies in our knowledge of the Bible. We find that “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). The Psalmist wrote in Psalms 1 about the prosperity of the person who delights in God’s law and meditates on it day and night. This person is pictured as a healthy tree growing and prospering year after year. Jesus finished His sermon on the mountain with statements about the importance of hearing and doing His word (Matthew 7:24-27). It is foolish to hear what needs to be done and then not do it. It is wise to hear and do.
I found this poem entitled “Someday” in my files this week and want to share it with you, old but good:
There’s a loving letter I mean to send.
There’s a visit I mean to pay,
There’s a careless habit I hope to mend
When I get the time – SOMEDAY.
There’s a dusty Bible I mean to read.
There’s an hour I’ll keep to pray.
And I’ll burn each dream to a golden deed
When I get the time – SOMEDAY.
I will carry flowers to the sick and sad.
I will seek for those who stray.
You may trace my steps by the hearts made glad
When I get the time – SOMEDAY.
So, we have thought and so we have said;
Yet how sad it is to relate
That busy with less important things
We waited until too late.
We began a new Sunday morning sermon series this week entitled “Take Hold On Eternal Life – Pursuing THESE Things: Righteousness (SUNDAY), Godliness, Faith, Love, Patience, and Gentleness. You can read ahead in I TIMOTHY 6. What does mean to be righteous? Can we find examples in the Bible? What did Jesus teach on this subject? These questions we will answer. On the evening we took a long look at THE VAST IMPORTANCE OF SMALL THINGS. Think about the many examples in the Bible where God shows us this very thing: Moses, the two mites, David, a lad with 5 loaves and 2 fish, and a baby in a manger. What about you and me? Pretty small, but God gave His One and Only Son to save us. God can do great things in you and me. MB
