HAPPY NEW YEAR 2023! We had a terrific time last Saturday celebrating the new year together as a church that belongs to Christ. Thank you to Geoffrey and Angel for planning our evening out with the old and in with the new. Thank to everyone who came out, stayed late, and brought plenty of delicious “finger-food” snacks for all to enjoy.
Life keeps rolling along as it has since God spoke those famous words in Genesis 1:3, “Let there be light.” Fall into Winter into Spring into Summer and back around, even though we’ve had just about every season in one week lately, one day 5 degrees and the next 70. I’ve been making this circuit for the past 63 years 6 months now with plans to keep on moving forward, onward, and upward though as the years progress the move has slowed just a bit. And that move to a slower pace of life is on purpose, my purpose, God’s purpose. My moto has always been “110%.” But in 2016 I had a serious bout with high blood pressure. Now I am living a more realistic “99%.” Only by God’s grace and mercy am I sitting here today strong and healthy still serving the Lord as His minister and messenger with the good church of Christ here at Harding Street, Morrilton. I am eternally grateful to my brother in Alabama woke me up to “the silent killer” that was trying to take me and to my Christian brother Dr. Anthony Remson in Louisville, Kentucky who got me into the ER for measurements, tests, the medicine that I needed, and a better way of thinking to keep me balanced. I am thankful to God Himself for sparing my life to continue His work. 2023 will be the best year of my life simply because I am alive and able to see and experience all of life’s glorious blessings. I can feel the warmth and the cold of the seasons. I have my wife, my children and grandchildren, and my family and friends around me on this side of heaven and those who have gone on before me on the other side. I have a work to do for the Lord Jesus Christ that is vibrant and full of passion, wonder, and excitement. What will this new year hold? I don’t know, but I am certainly happy to have it and will gladly face any and every opportunity and challenge with a smiling face and a joyous spirit. God is my refuge and strength. He supplies our every need.
It could be that you have been putting off taking care of your physical health the way you should. Don’t wait another moment or for a desperate ride in an ambulance to the Emergency Room. This week find a good team of doctors (MD, Dentist, Eye Doctor, Chiropractor, etc.) that will monitor your health with regular check-ups and offer you the advice and medicine you need to live longer, healthier, happier, and better.
It could be that you have been putting off taking care of your spiritual health too. Begin 2023 the way you can and should with a renewed zeal and commitment to serve God with your time, talents, and your treasures. There is much to do, and we need every member of the church of Christ at Harding Street involved. We can do all things through Christ…TOGETHER!
