Hello. Welcome. I just love the fall. Don’t you. It is so good to be together to worship God in spirit and in truth every chance we get. We show our gratitude to God every day by living the Christian life wherever we are. Jesus Himself said in Matthew 5:14-15; “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.” Then He said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” I hope you are doing that each and every day. We show who we are by how we think, speak, act, and by the choices we make. Sometimes we “mess up.” And when we do, the words “I am sorry” go a long way in making things right with those around us. We have only 12 more weeks left in 2022. Let’s live to enjoy each day to the fullest.
Congratulations to XANDER PRICE. Xander came before God and the church on Sunday (2nd) to confess Jesus as his Lord and Savior and put Him on in baptism. Now, every time Xander reads about God’s plan of salvation in the Bible, he can say, “I did that on Sunday, October 2, 2022.” I obeyed the gospel on Sunday evening, January 29, 1972. I haven’t thought about it until now, but I’ve been a Christian for 50 years. Wow! One day, 50 years from now, unless the Lord returns before then, I hope Xander will say the same thing. I could be that you too have been thinking about doing what you know you need to do. Don’t delay any longer. Come forward as soon as possible to confess Jesus as the Son of God and be baptized in His name. When you come up from the waters of baptism, every sinful thought, word, and deed of your past will be forgiven and forgotten. You will be clean and new. If you have questions, please let me know. I can help you with the answers you need.
Our sermon series “Come to Jesus” continued on Sunday with a lesson on the obstacles that could stand in our way: short-term values, past failures, selfishness, and fear. If one or more of these obstacles are in your way, just look past them to Jesus. He will save you. He saved me and continues to help me along the pathway of life.
The Conway County Gospel Meeting this week is going very well. Thank you to the Downtown congregation for hosting this year’s annual event. The Harding Street congregation will host the meeting in 2023.
I hope you can come out and hear some of these wonderful lessons from God’s word on Jesus, the Man and the Plan. We’re meeting at 7:00 pm each evening. And plan on coming on Wednesday evening early at 6:00 to enjoy a meal with members and guests.
God bless you. See you soon. MB
