Hello and welcome! It’s October! We are praying for our family and friends in Florida and in the Carolina’s who are suffering from the effects of hurricane Ian last week. Makes me happy to live in the great natural state of Arkansas for sure. We have our own problems to face, but at least we do not have to deal with hurricanes. Fall has finally arrived. We’re enjoying the low 80’s with some 60’s at night. The leaves are changing and falling. Soon we will cut and trim the lawn for the last time until Spring. I have one hummingbird left and I’m sure she will soon make the trip to her winter home where it is warmer. Rain would be a blessing to us. God knows what He’s doing. Trust and obey. There’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
Last Sunday morning we answered the question: “Why should I come to Jesus?” I should and must come to Jesus because only in Christ can I experience my true purpose and because He promises to reward my passionate commitment to Him. Today we began to look at the second question in our series “Come to Jesus:” What are the obstacles to my decision to come to Jesus? Too many people make decisions without looking beyond the moment – SHORT-TERM VALUES – Demanding perfection. Some people just can’t seem to put their past in the past – PAST FAILURES. Others of us make decisions with only ourselves in mind – SELFISHNESS. Some allow fear to stand in the way of help, health, happiness, hope, and heaven – FEAR. Let us get past these obstacles and come to Jesus for what we need.
Our Sunday evening sermon series is entitled “Lord give me wisdom. I need it.” Last time we saw that wisdom comes from appreciating God’s word. This past Sunday at 5:00 saw that we must take the next step and appropriate His word into our daily living. You see, it is not enough to know the word of God. God’s word must be put into practice every day. Want to live a long and peaceful life? Then be wise to remember God’s word to keep it every day. When you do you will have what you want. Want to have favor and high esteem in God’s sight and in man’s sight? Then be wise live mercifully and truthfully every day. Our text is from Proverbs 3 and 8. MB
