Hello family and friends! Welcome.
We are blessed to have the privilege of meeting together every Lord’s Day and at other occasions in the name of Jesus Christ for worship, fellowship, and Bible study. Let us put aside any worldly thought, word, or deed as we sing praises to God, pray in Jesus’ name, give as we have been blessed, remember Jesus’ great sacrifice and examine ourselves in the Lord’s Supper, and hear a message from God’s word. Also, if there is any sin that might stand between us and God, know that we can have that sin forgiven through our obedience to the gospel. Jesus said in Matthew 11:28-30: “Come to Me…and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me…and you will find rest for your soul.” What a promise! Jesus came into this old sinful world to save us. He is our only hope.
I hope you are now settled into your new way of doing things at home, school, and work as summer closes and Autumn arrives on Thursday (22nd). These are tough times. Let us be in constant prayer to our Father in heaven for strength, wisdom, healing, and help through it all. Remember these wonderful words of promise from the Bible:
“GOD IS OUR REFUGE AND STRENGTH, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed and though the mountains be carried into the sea; though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling”
(Psalm 46:1-3).
“BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD; I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth! The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge”
(Psalm 46:10-11).
The MHS Devil Dog football team is having a great year so far, 3 and 1 after a hard loss on Friday night when the Joe T. Robinson Senators came crashing into Morrilton. It has been said that every football team could use a player who could play every position perfectly, who never fumbles the ball or misses a tackle, and who never makes a mistake…but there’s no way to get him to put down his hot dog and drink and come down out of the stands. There is no shortage of critics in the stands who say, after a player has made a mistake, just how the play should have been made. It is not too difficult to find a person who would have scored the winning touchdown if he had been running the ball. You see, it is much easier to talk a perfect game than to play one. The Christian life is a race that is to be run, a fight that is to be fought, and a life that is to be lived every day, rather than something that can simply be done watching from the stands. Hebrews 12:1-2 says; “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin that so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.” We must come out of the stands and participate in the race before us. The Harding Street church of Christ meets every Sunday, Sunday night, and Wednesday night for worship, study, and Christian fellowship. Come on out and get stronger so you can participate in the race that is set before us as we look to Jesus our Savior for help, hope, happiness, and heaven. MB
