Hello from the one and only Morrilton, Arkansas. I hope you are having a great week wherever you are. There are so many rich blessings that come to us when we become a Christian and live the Christian life. I’ll take just a moment to list a few of these wonderful blessings: Salvation from any sinful thought, word, or action that has broken our hearts and the hearts of those we love, the promise that everything will work out for our good because we love the Lord and are the called according to His purpose, the knowledge that there is no condemnation to us because we are “in Christ” and walk not according to fleshly desires, but according to the Holy Spirit of God, the fact that God is with us, hearing us, helping us, and protecting us, and above and beyond every other physical and spiritual blessing; we have heaven awaiting us in the end. If you are thinking about becoming a Christian, don’t wait another minute. Take the steps you need to take to be saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus as soon as possible. Trust Jesus Christ in faith. Repent of any sin. Confess Jesus as Savior and Lord. Be baptized to have your sins washed away. If you are a Christian…maybe you confessed Jesus as the Son of God and were baptized long ago, and have not been living the Christian life, then don’t wait another minute. Stop by at 906 East Harding Street in Morrilton and allow us the privilege of sharing with you just how blessed you can be today and forever in Christ Jesus.
This past Sunday morning we begin a new sermon series entitled “Aspects of TRUE FAITH.” Our text was from I THESSALONIANS 1:2-10. Paul writes to the church of Christ in Thessalonica (And to us at Harding Street too) in terms of their work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in the Lord Jesus Christ. When you think about it, these three aspects of faith can also be ours. Sunday, we focused on our WORK OF FAITH in terms of TIME. Faith in God requires TIME: time in thought, in prayer, in study, in worship, in life, and in rest. Next Sunday morning (May 1) we will move along to THE LABOR OF LOVE and find that a true aspect of faith is SACRIFICE.
On the evening we looked at another step we can take as we Follow the Footprints of Jesus. Jesus showed and shared the gospel of salvation with the world and used EVERYDAY LIFE and COMMON EXPERIENCES to talk to others and teach them the gospel. Next week we will look at Jesus’ example in how He was FLEXIBLE in His methods of teaching others who He is and what God’s instructions are. So can we.
It is hard to believe but this coming Sunday is the first Sunday in May. Before you know it, school will be out for the summer, our graduates will be walking across the stage, and we’ll be dreaming of a vacation. Take a look on the bulletin board in the foyer to see our graduates from kindergarten, high school, and college. Be listening for a time to honor our graduates with a celebration very soon. Graduates, we are so proud of you for your dedication to learning. You did it! MB
