Good morning family and friends. Hope you had a terrific holiday weekend. Cindi and I have certainly enjoyed having our children and grandchildren with us for a few days. In just 4 days we will be walking away from 2021 and welcoming 2022. Please mark your calendar for this Friday night, December 31st for our New Year’s Eve party across the parking lot up in our Annex Building. Bring your favorite board games and finger food snacks to enjoy from 8:00 to 12:00. Now back to my thoughts…Have you thought your resolutions for the coming year? I certainly have, especially recently. Let’s see.
- Follow God’s word in James 1:19; “So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.”
- I will pray. I will pray. Ever will I pray, morning, noon, and evening…You know how the hymn we sang last Sunday goes! Without ceasing. God promises to hear, consider, and answer according to His will.
- Meditate. Focus on His word just like David wrote in Psalm 1. When I do, I’ll be like that tree that is so healthy and prosperous. There are so many distractions. I want to focus more on the “main thing” and less on the things that are not as “main.”
- Sometimes I don’t listen very well. I want to become a better listener.
- Be more patient. I sometimes jump to conclusions…to misunderstand.
- Be gentle and courageous. Anyone can do this. Jesus taught by word and example and pleased the Father by being meek and yet strong and courageous. I want to be like Jesus; quiet, strong, wise, patient, kind, right.
- Follow when I should. Lead when I should. Better understand.
- Forget what was. Accept what is. Imagine and create what can be. Move forward.
I am resolved no longer to linger, charmed by the world’s delight;
Things that are higher, things that are nobler, these have allured my sight.
I am resolved to go to the Savior, leaving my sin and strife;
He is this True One, He is the Just One, He has the words of life.
I am resolved to follow the Savior, faithful and true each day,
Heed what is says, do what He wills, He is the living Way.
I am resolved to enter the kingdom, leaving the paths of sin,
Friends may oppose me, foes may beset me, still will I enter in.
I will hasten to Him, hasten so glad and free,
Jesus, greatest, highest, I will come to Thee.

Only God knows the opportunities and challenges we will face and provides whatever we need to accomplish His will. Whatever we do, we do TOGETHER. MB
