Good morning my friends and fellow Christians at Harding Street. It is always good to be together on the Lord’s Day to worship God in spirit and in truth. It is especially good for me to be home after a week of “revival” preaching for our fellow Christian brethren in Hamilton, Alabama, the Cherry Hill Church of Christ where I grew up. My dad and my sister are members there. We had 38 in attendance on Sunday morning (24th) and had 25 to 32 every night Sunday through Wednesday of last week. This may sound like such a small number to many, but to them they were so excited to have such a large crowd to hear the gospel preached. Not too long ago, Cindi traveled to the Boston, Massachusetts area for an insurance conference. On Wednesday she checked online to find a congregation of the Lord’s church and followed the GPS to the location of their Bible study. There were 4 in attendance for Bible study that night. We had 90 for worship yesterday morning, down a bit from our usual attendance. You see…4 or 38 or 90 or 500 or 1,000 or 10,000…These are only numbers. Let’s not get tied up, tangled up, up or down, happy or sad, excited or frustrated over numbers. Don’t get me wrong. I want us to be exactly what God wants us to be. Don’t you? Every day we will live, plan, pray, trust, wait, and work for our Lord to provide for us what He wills. And all along we will be happy as we work together right here in the best place on earth, Morrilton, Arkansas. Thank you so much for allowing me to be away to share the strength of the Harding Street Church of Christ with our brethren there at Cherry Hill. Thank you to my fellow elders, Brother Bane and Brother Brice for your support while I was away.
Yesterday we concluded our series “Repentance: A Command for All for All Time” with a lesson on the MUST of Repentance. God now COMMANDS ALL PEOPLE EVERYWHERE TO REPENT – Acts 17:30. We have looked at the meaning of repentance and the motivation to repentance. Just what does “MUST” mean? Well, must means something that is required, to be compelled, something commanded, and something to be determined. When your mother says, “You must do this,” you better do it!
On the evening our subject for consideration was “Don’t Be Deceived.” These are the facts: Know Jesus – Know Peace. NO Jesus – NO Peace. Humble yourself to be exalted. Exalt yourself and be humbled. Obey the gospel and live right and go to heaven. Refuse to obey the gospel and live wrong and miss heaven. Please, please, please, choose wisely and receive all that God wants to give you now and in eternity. Don’t be deceived.
Thank you so much for your generosity toward the Harvest of Hope Food Drive for the Conway County Care Center. We asked for 50 boxes. We sent 150 boxes. May God bless you with good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over. MB
