Hello Christian family, friends, and special guests. Can you believe how quickly 2021 is moving along? August 5th today. One morning very soon we’ll walk outside and feel the change of seasons. Leaves will begin to change into the vibrant colors of fall (And I’m talking about the changing leaves due to the hot summer heat and lack of rain). We will then remember God’s power and promises once again. The first day of Autumn is still a few days away on September 22nd. The yellow school buses are already moving up and down our streets practicing for when they’ll be picking up children for school. It is time for our schedule to change. Up earlier and to bed earlier, homework, better preparation and better organization, patience and Christian character. May God bless us as we make the changes we need to make! I am praying every day for our children to have the freedom to learn without fear of a virus and without the hindrance of face-coverings.
Our eldership met last evening and after much prayer, discussion, and deliberation decided that it was in the best interest of the church at Harding Street, our guest speaker from Alabama, and the many guests that would have been in attendance to POSTPONE OUR LADIES’ DAY UNTIL SPRING OF 2022. We all have a heavy heart that this decision was necessary due to the increasing number of virus cases in our area. Thank you for your support, generosity, and understanding as we try to shepherd this great congregation of the Lord’s church toward heaven. We must keep lifting our hearts and voices toward heaven for the answer to the troublesome times we’re living in. We must hold the line for good and for our Savior Jesus Christ.
This Sunday we will continue in our series “Heaven – Why I want to go.” First, I want to go to heaven to see God, to tell Him how much I love Him and how much I appreciate the life I have and the blessings He provides in my life. I want to tell Him how thankful I am to be His son. Second, I want to go to heaven for our grand reunion. I am looking for the day when I will see all my family members, my grandparents, Cindi’s parents and sister, and others who have gone on to rest in Christ Jesus. I have preached in many places all around the country and dearly miss my Christian friends who are asleep in Christ. One day, according to the promises of Jesus we will meet again and never be separated. Are you going to heaven? There is only one way, Jesus (John 14:6).
On the evening at 5:00 we will move forward in our sermon series “What would it do FOR THE WORLD if we turned/returned to the Bible.” I truly believe that when the world returns-turns to the Bible, the entire world would be convicted of sin, feel the need for salvation, be united in Christ, and would be made a new creation. A new world begins with you and me. God’s word, the Bible is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. We must read it and follow it. When we do, the world changes for the better.
