Hello and welcome. We are so happy to meet together at every opportunity for worship, study, and fellowship. We’re having a wonderful summer, busy as always showing and sharing the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ. God is blessing us. We’re thankful. Several have been out the past few days vacationing up at Choctaw or a little further north in Branson or maybe south at the beach or maybe even “stay-cationing” at home. Some are back, others are about to make a trip. Stay safe. Traffic is heavy. Fuel is expensive. Tensions are sometimes a little bit higher than usual. So, be the Christian Christ calls us to be. Be patient. Conquer the worries with prayer. Be kind. Take a deep breath and enjoy every moment of life. Cindi and I were so happy to have our daughter and grandson visiting with us this past weekend from the Washington D.C. area. Our son-in-law couldn’t travel due to his work schedule and our granddaughter is involved in her summer practices and productions. Thank you for making them feel welcome and loved.
We continued in our sermon series yesterday “I Died Last Night” with a lesson that begged the question “Was I faithful to my Lord Jesus Christ?” We all must take a daily evaluation of our worship and our faithfulness to Jesus while we can. There will come a moment in life when we wake up on the other side and it will be too late for a personal examination. Today, while I have today, am I faithful to study God’s word, faithful to pray, faithful to stay away from sin, faithful to give to others, faithful to love others, and faithful to meet with my fellow Christian brethren? Tomorrow may be too late.
I love Sunday nights. On the 5:00 o’clock hour we looked at step #3 to The Secret to Happiness and considered our thoughts and how important our thinking is to our happiness. You know, you’re just about as happy as you make up your mind to be. The apostle Paul wrote to us in Philippians 4 to give us a list of things to think about, to meditate on: whatever is true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, and praiseworthy. He told the church of Christ at Philippi (and us too) to remember and do what they had learned, received, heard, and saw in him. I want to be happy. So, I have made up my mind to be happy, to think about these specific things in life. What about you?
