Hello on this glorious Wednesday! We are so very blessed to have this day to live and love to honor God in all that we think, say, and do. Cindi and I had a good trip to Washington D.C. to visit our daughter and family this past weekend. Thank you for your prayers for us. Thank you also for the time away. I am thankful to be a member of the Harding Street Church of Christ, to be one of your elders and your minister. God is blessing us. We are thankful. Thank you also to Brother Bane for preaching in my absence and to Brother Matt Prysock for teaching the Young Adults.
Take note of these very important statements:
- Not all will be saved.
Jesus said in Matthew 7:21, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.”
- More will be lost than will be saved.
Again, we see that Jesus said in Matthew 7:13-14, “Enter by the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”
- Many who expect to be saved will be lost.
In Jesus’ sermon on the mountain in Matthew 7:22-23, He said, “Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!”
- Christ saves only those who obey Him.
The writer to the Hebrews in chapter 5, verse 9 says, “And having been perfected, He (Jesus) became to author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him.”
- It is too late to obey the Lord after death.
Again, the Holy Spirit in Hebrews 9:27 gives us the order; “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.” Jesus teaches about life after death in Luke 16:19-31 about a man who did not obey the Lord in his life but was selfish with what the Lord had given him. He died, was buried, and found himself tormented in a place Jesus called Hades. He was in pain, thirsty, lonely, separated, and hopeless.
- Today might be your last opportunity to be saved. Don’t waste it.
We read in Paul’s 2 Corinthians 6:1; “For He says, ‘In an acceptable time I have heard you. And in the day of salvation, I have helped you.’ Behold, NOW is the accepted time; behold NOW is the day of salvation.”
May God bless us all today as we examine ourselves and remember Jesus.
