Hello from sunny, beautiful Morrilton, Arkansas, beside the Arkansas River, at the foot of Petit Jean Mountain. God is excellent. The world we live in is beautiful and good. Many (probably the majority) in the world are peaceful, loving, and helpful. There are a few people who are vengeful, hateful, and selfish. Let’s keep these two things in mind and not get too caught up in the storms of life that come and go. Every day we make choices; choices that bring us, our families, our friends, and society to peace and unity or to calamity and division. Just think about the kind of world we would have if we all followed Jesus’ word and His example in life. Love one another. Forgive one another. Honor your parents. Do what is right. Obey the governing authorities. Tell the truth. Help one another. Work. Give. Pray. Care. Respect. Don’t quit. Trust and be trustworthy. Be good. Can you see how living the Christian life is the only way to live? I hope so. Live today in a different way. Put these simple things into practice and see for yourself what a positive difference you can make in the world, your world, God’s world. God’s requirements are not that complicated. Micah 6:8 says, “He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to DO JUSTLY, TO LOVE MERCY, AND TO WALK HUMBLY WITH YOUR GOD?” In other words: Do what is right. Be kind. Be humble. How about it? This we can do!
We started a 5 lesson sermon series on Sunday morning entitled, “Our Greatest Desire.” Our text comes from Philippians 3:7-14. We are considering the following from Paul’s own greatest desires #1 – To Gain Christ, #2 – To Be Found IN Him, #3 – To Know Him, #4 – To Know the Power of His Resurrection, and #5 – To Know the Fellowship of His Suffering. We looked at lesson #1 on Sunday. Jesus is worth exceeding, abundantly more than we have to give up, to take on, or do, or be. He is. On the evening today we continued on to the next B-Attitude from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount – Blessed are the Peacemakers.
What would it take for you to believe and obey the gospel of Jesus Christ? Thomas wanted to see. Nicodemus wanted to know. The man in Mark 9 wanted a miracle. Which is it with you? What else do you need to see? What else do you need to know? What else can God do to show you who He is and what He wants from you? Look around you to see. If you have questions, ask. The Bible has the answers you need to the questions you have. There things going on around you every day that cannot be explained in human terms. God is the source of every blessing. Trust and obey. There’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey. MB
