Hello family and friends! What a beautiful “spring-break” week we have had on the banks of the Arkansas River at the foot of Petit Jean Mountain alongside I-40 in our home, the only Morrilton in America; quite a bit of rain, some warm sunshine, flowers blooming all around us, green grass and trees, and everyone excited that Spring has finally arrived. School has begun once again. Sorry, but just think. Summer is just around the corner. And hardly a mention of the virus lately, only 8 today in the entire county and only about 2,000 in the entire state. Of course, the data is often mixed. Regardless of what you hear, be smart, be safe, and don’t be afraid.
God is always showing us His majesty. Just look around you. On Saturday Cindi and I sat outside in the swing to watch a red-headed woodpecker couple look for a home in our front yard. Paul wrote about God in chapter 1 verse 19 that what may be known of Him is evident among us for He has shown it to us, then in verse 20 he writes, “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things which are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse.” God is so good to us every day; yesterday, today, tomorrow, and forever regardless of whether we are on the mountain top or in the valley. May we live for Him in a way that honors Jesus Christ, His most precious gift to the world. We know how to do that from the Word He has revealed to, His Word, the Bible.
Yesterday we conclude our series “Just what is the Bible to you” with a sermon on “The Tools of the Trade.” Every industry or trade has its own unique tools, tools that are necessary to do the job. Think about all the various industries and the unique tools are required: Welding, Auto Mechanic, Chef, Education, Sales, Marketing, Insurance, Truck Driving, and we could go on and on. The Bible can be our GPS or Roadmap for our journey. It can be a Staff that supports us, a Compass for direction, a Weapon for battle, and a Charter for our mission. Tools make the job easier, faster, and less stressful. Without the proper tools, life can be tough.
On the evening at 5:00 we continued in our series on the “B-Attitudes” in Jesus’ Sermon on the Mountain and thought about what it means to be merciful. Are you merciful? Are you kind and compassionate, giving and forgiving, and helpful to others? Jesus said, “Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy.” I certainly need mercy. So, I must show mercy.
