Good morning and welcome! Can you believe that today is March 1st? Have you enjoyed the beautiful spring-like weather we have been having lately? We had a couple of days in the 70’s. The buttercups in my yard are thinking that its Spring already. People have always said that in Arkansas if you don’t like the weather, just wait a minute. Yesterday was a good Sunday with almost 100 present in-person and many more participating online. It is our prayer that you are blessed, encouraged, and challenged by what you saw and heard. May God bless us all to always worship Him in spirit and in truth.
We are so very happy to be together on the Lord’s Day for worship, Bible study, and Christian fellowship. Our Bible Classes help us to grow in the grace and the knowledge of Jesus Christ. We are so blessed to have such wonderful teachers here at Harding Street. One of our elders, Brother Ron Semanek is teaching the Book of Genesis in the auditorium. The Young Adults are studying Right Attitudes in their class. Yesterday we studied about humility. The teens, preteens, and children are studying a variety of wonderful Bible topics that I know will help them come to know God and His will a little bit better. Parents and Grandparents: Your children need to hear what God’s word says to them in these troublesome times we live in. I know I really need all the help I can get to face the challenges that life hands me. They do too. You, too. We’re out by 11:00. Give our Bible classes a try. You will be so glad you did. Our doors are decorated with the class ages and/or grades. Get ready to learn.
Our sermon yesterday was entitled “Just what is the Bible to you?” We learned that Jesus’ word is God’s word, that the apostle’s word is God’s word, that God’s word is not from any private interpretation or source, that God’s word must be read, believed, practiced, taught, and preached, and that God word stands forever either for us or against us. God’s word is indeed a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. When we decide to delight in God’s word and meditate on His word day and night, we will receive God’s promises just like He said we would (Psalm 119:105, Psalm 1:1-3).
Yesterday evening at 5:00 we began a series of sermons on the “B-Attitudes” found in Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount” in Matthew 5. I just love to read verses 1 and 2. “And seeing the multitudes, He (Jesus) went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying: Blessed (happy) are the poor in spirit…” We defined and described what it means to be poor in spirit using Biblical (Moses, Esther, Jesus) and practical examples (Sam, a little child, and a Christian using his/her time, talents, and treasure to honor God). May God bless us as we focus our lives on and in Him this week and every week.
