Good morning to you on this cold and wintery day in Morrilton, Arkansas. Looks like winter has arrived and will be with us for several days. According to the weather report, the weekend looks to be severely cold with ice and snow and temperatures reaching to 0 on Monday the 15th. Check your water pipes to make sure they won’t freeze up.
The Harding Street Church of Christ is alive and well in the midst of these troublesome times. We have been taking a break from in-person meetings due to the effects of the virus in our area. From what I hear, those who were affected are now healthy again and others are out of quarantine. Plans are to come back together in person on Sunday, February 21st at 9:00 a.m. It is my hope and prayer that the enemy that has afflicted us will soon be gone forever. We continue to pray for our family and friends around the world who are sick. Meanwhile we are meeting online every Sunday at 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday evening at 7:00 online. I hope you have been tuning in and participating in our singing, prayer, remembering Christ in the Lord’s Supper on the Lord’s Day, giving, and preaching and teaching.
This Sunday morning is Valentine’s Day, so we will focus our attention on God’s Grace Supreme – LOVE. In 2 Peter 1 God asks us to add to our faith the following graces: virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love. In 1 Corinthians 13 we find that the greatest of all graces is love, God’s Supreme Grace, supreme to any and all languages, supreme to any and all knowledge, supreme to any and all miracles, supreme to any and all philanthropy, supreme to any and all sacrifice, and supreme even to a faith and can move mountains. This supreme grace is what makes Christianity so different, the fact that we are put here on earth to love God and one another. In Mark 12:28-34 Jesus was asked what He thought was the greatest commandment. Do you remember His answer? Read and see.
On Sunday evening at 5:00 we will continue in our series from Psalm 128 regarding what it means to “Fear God and walk in His ways.” When I take God seriously, I fear Him and walk in His ways. This Sunday we will consider the second picture of what it means to fear God and walk in His ways, respect. If you would like to read ahead, read Romans 11:33-36. We must respect God for who He is, for what He has done, for what His is doing, and for what He has promised to do.
May God bless you and me and our families as we love every day to its fullest. Don’t look back. Look ahead but not too far ahead. Live today.
