Hello and welcome today on this beautiful December day in our hometown, Morrilton at the foot of Petit Jean Mountain on the banks of the Arkansas River right beside I-40 in Central Arkansas. We are blessed to be members of the church of Christ that meets at 906 E. Harding Street. We are thankful to our Lord Jesus Christ for His grace and strength that keeps us strong and unified, even amid this terrible virus that continues its course throughout the world.
To our guests: If you have any questions regarding what you see and hear when you worship with us, please let one of our elders or ministers know. It would be an honor to answer your questions right out of God’s word, the Bible. It could be that you are searching for a congregation of the Lord’s church to work and worship with. We would certainly love to speak with you about God’s plan of salvation and His instructions as to how to become a Christian and a member of the church.
Our sermon this Sunday morning is entitled “What Must I Do to Be Saved.” Over and over in the Bible we find this question asked: By the Rich Young Ruler – “What shall I do that I may inherit eternal life.” By those on the Day of Pentecost – “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” By Saul on the road to Damascus – “Lord, what do you want me to do?” My plan is to ask the same question with three different emphasis’: WHAT must I do to be saved? What MUST I do to be saved? What must I do to be saved? Question #1 teaches us that there is something to do for salvation. Question #2 teaches us that these things must be done. And Question #3 teaches us that you and I must do the things that must be done. I hope you will be challenged and encouraged by this study from God’s word.
Sunday evening at Harding Street is such a blessing to me. At 4:30 we sing for about 25 minutes. At 5:00 we sing a few more hymns, pray, then I get to preach another lesson this week from our series “What is the Love?” This week we will look at lesson 4 in our series entitled “Taking the Time to Love.” Revival…Renewal TAKES TIME. Asking takes time. Seeking takes time. Knocking takes time. Our scripture text is Luke 11:5-10 where Jesus speaks about one of us having a friend who arrives late, and we have no food for him. So, we walk over to another friend’s house to ask to borrow three loaves and its midnight. Our second friend is not happy to be disturbed at this late hour and refuses. The neighbor finally hands over the bread not because of friendship but because we are persistent. Anything worth anything takes time.
Please plan to stay for Bible Classes Sunday immediately following the morning worship hour at 10:15. You will be glad you stayed. Ron Semanek is teaching the Adults in the Auditorium. I am teaching the Young Adults in the big room up front and right. We have classes for all our children and teens. Remember that faith comes by hearing the word of God (Romans 10:17). Also, we are blessed when we meditate on the word of the Lord day and night, like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper (Psalm 1). I want a strong faith. I want to be blessed. Do you? If so, then stay for Sunday morning Bible study.
We are posting every service for those who cannot attend in-person on Facebook LIVE, Sunday at 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Remember to respect your fellow Christians and wear a face covering if at all possible.
