This Sunday we close out the month of May. Summer activities are now being scheduled around the recommendations of our governing authorities. Life is moving along with challenges, both old and new and opportunities all around us. We are working, hoping, and praying for every member of the Harding Street congregation; that we will continue to stay safe, healthy, and active in life and living.
We are meeting again at the church building at 906 E Harding Street and we are so very happy about that. Our town, our county, and our facilities are clean, safe, and virus-free. So, to every member of the Harding Street church of Christ; it is time to come out and worship, study, and fellowship with your fellow Christians all while being smart, wearing a mask if possible, and maintain social distancing. We will continue to upload our services via “Facebook LIVE” every Sunday, Sunday evening, and Wednesday evening for our Christian brothers and sisters who cannot come out to gather with us in addition to those in other parts of the nation who cannot meet with their fellow Christians yet.
It could be that you have not been able to meet with your Christian family for a while. Don’t fret, fear, worry, or regret. Just get up, get in the car, and come on in. You’ll be met at the door with friendly hello (We’re just giving each other an elbow or an “air handshake”), a church bulletin, individual communion supplies, and words of love and kindness that say, “Welcome.” This Sunday (31st) I’ll be preaching part two of a sermon entitled “Our Goals/Plans within God’s Limits.” We’re looking at Esther who needed to remember who she was: a Hebrew and not a Persian, who her Savior is: God and not King Xerxes, and where her home is: Jerusalem and not Shushan. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our goas and plans that we forget just like Esther. There are 9 principles we need to know to reach our goals within God’s limits. From last week we need to: Have a purpose, be positive, be accountable, and be humble. Today we will look at our need to Be Prayerful, Persistent, Passionate, Progressive, and finally, Patient. We can reach our goals within God’s limits.
Come back for the evening service at 5:00 p.m. We will sing a few songs then consider “God’s Eternal Promise: Forgiveness.” We cannot “beg” our way to forgiveness. We cannot “bargain” our way to forgiveness. We cannot “bribe” or “buy” our way to forgiveness. We can only accept forgiveness from the One who alone can forgive on His terms. Our salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
Our new outdoor sign has arrived and will be installed as soon as we get everything together. It is located out front in the crate. It looks terrific, beautiful, and digital.
Our Tuesday Ladies’ Bible Class will resume on Tuesday, June 2nd at 10:30 a.m. This class is open to all ladies and your guests. The lesson is entitled, “A Biblical Example” on page 92 in your book. Also, you will enjoy your new comfortable chairs and matching tables. Please plan on staying for a pizza lunch together if you can. The Ladies Bible Class on Wednesday night is NOT meeting yet but will soon resume as soon as the eldership meets to discuss.
May God bless our nation and the world. There are so many forces trying to divide us. May God help us to help one another, defend one another, protect one another, look out for one another, and truly love one another as Christ Jesus taught us by word and example. Let this be our daily desire and prayer.
