Hello everyone. We are so happy to be meeting together again at 906 E Harding Street to enjoy the sights and sounds of Christian worship and fellowship. Oh, how beautiful is the sound of Christians singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to the Lord our God! This Sunday (24th) please sing out with your whole heart with Brother Charles Lovelace as he directs our singing. Make sure you let him know who much we appreciate him. We extend our deepest sympathy to Brother Charles at the passing of his mother Jane Mims Lovelace. She was 94 and the very best of what a Christian woman should be.
Monday is Memorial Day. Please take some time to think about our family members who gave the greatest sacrifice anyone can give to establish and maintain the freedoms we enjoy today. My dad and Cindi’s dad were in the Army. Both were able to serve and come home to their families. My son-in-law is a Marine. Today he is safe and sound with my daughter and grandchildren in Virginia. Many of their military brothers and sisters did not come home to their families but sacrifice their lives for our country.
On Sunday our lesson is entitled “Our goals (plans) within God’s Limits.” Are you plans (goals) in line with God’s plans? Even though “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13), I must know that the things that I can do must fall within the blessings and limits of God’s will and plans. There are many things that I could do but will not do due to God’s limits. Even Jesus our Savior, the Son of God limited Himself to His Father’s will and plans. In Matthew 26:53 Jesus said to Peter; “Or do you not think that I cannot pray to My Father and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels? How then could the Scripture be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?” Even though Jesus could have called for those angels, He didn’t because His plans were within His Father’s limits. In Mark 14:36 Jesus was praying to His Father concerning what was about to take place and said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.” And we know that Jesus had to “drink” from that “cup.” We too must bring our goals and plans in line with God’s plans for us.
Our new outdoor sign was delivered on Thursday and is sitting in the crate out front ready to install. Go by and see how beautiful it is. We need help in removing our “old” sign and installing the new one. If you have expertise in this area of service, please see Brother Bill Brice. I cannot hardly wait to see it in operation.
WE ARE NOW MEETING ON SUNDAY EVENING AT 5:00 P.M. FOR WORSHIP AND FELLOWSHIP! We will focus our attention on our greatest need, FORGIVENESS. You need forgiveness. I need forgiveness. We all need forgiveness. And so, we must forgive.
