We will finally be back together again this Sunday, May 17th in person after such a lengthy time away stuck at home trying to figure out what to do and what not do to stay away from sickness. We currently have only 1 active case of the “virus” in Conway County and none in Morrilton. That and a few other reasons gives us the privilege of assembling for worship, study, and fellowship this coming Sunday (17th). We will NOT have Bible classes or our Sunday evening service or any events and activities for the next 3 weeks other than our Sunday morning assembly at 9:00 a.m. and our Wednesday evening Bible study/devotional time together at 7:00 p.m. The eldership will meet the first week in June to discuss and decide the next phase of our meetings together. Please wear a mask covering your nose and mouth on Sunday during our assembly if possible and try to use “family social distancing” when we are together. Brother Camp will have announcements and will give us directions as to our dismissal. Elders, deacons, and ministers and our families: please arrive early on Sunday (8:30) to help get everyone in and out in an orderly way. Thank you so much.
We will continue to put our services online for those who are at home and unable to meet for worship. Sunday’s service will be posted on Facebook around 10:30 a.m. CST and Wednesday’s service will be posted around 8:15 p.m. CST. Please join us online if you can.
What a beautiful week we are having on the banks of the Arkansas River at the foot of Petit Jean Mountain; a little bit of rain, some warm sunshine, flowers blooming all around us, green grass and trees, and everyone excited that summer is finally here. No matter what we must do we can do because we know where our strength lies, in Jesus Christ. Paul wrote to the church of Christ in Philippians 4:13; “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Last Sunday (10th) was Mother’s Day. I hope we all celebrated our mothers in ways that let them know they are loved and appreciated for what they have done and what they do every day. My lesson online was about Jesus’ mother, Mary and just how much she loved her Son, Jesus. Do you remember a point or two from the lesson? She dedicated Him to God. She carried Him to worship. She gave Him freedom. She provided the “tools” He needed to fulfill His mission to the world. She did not always understand Him. She cherished Him in her heart. She sometimes “worried” about Him. She expected great things from Him.
God is so good to us every day; yesterday, today, tomorrow, and forever regardless of whether we are on the mountain top or in the valley. May we live for Him in a way that honors Jesus Christ, His most precious gift to the world.
