Hello again. Another week has passed and we’re still separated by something unseen, something our generation has never experienced, but we’re making it. Thank you to everyone who has been meeting together with Cindi and me every Sunday and Wednesday in their homes with their families to share in worship and study online through Facebook and Youtube. It is a great privilege and pleasure for me to present the word of God and share in prayer, singing, the Lord’s Supper, and giving with you. We will continue sharing our services as long as we have the opportunity. I am sorry for some of our Christian brothers and sisters who do not have access to the internet. If you have a smart TV, check to see if you can watch the service on Youtube.
The work of the Lord continues even though we have not been able to meet together in person. So, please remember to keep the work of the church and the preaching of the gospel in your giving. You can mail in your offering, drop your offering by the church building any weekday morning between the hours of 9:00 and 12:00, or hold your offering until we meet again very soon we hope. Our church secretary will see that your offering gets where it needs to be.
I’m sorry if you have not been able to work because your work has been labeled “nonessential” or you have been laid off from your job or maybe you have been asked to work longer and harder than you have ever worked before. Somehow, some way you and I have made it this far. Barely hanging on is still hanging on. Many times in life, during the storm, just when we think we can’t take another step the flood of relief comes pouring in. Keep on keeping on. Don’t quit.
For your consideration note this particular conversation between Jesus, the Lord and Simon Peter in Matthew 19:27-29.
“Then Peter answered and said to Him, ‘See, we have left all and followed You. Therefore what shall we have?’ So Jesus said to him, ‘Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.”
Note that Jesus did not think negatively of Peter or reprimand him for asking this question, “Lord, we are sacrificing so much to do what is right. What’s in it for us?” Jesus actually tells him the fantastic results and benefits of his sacrifices. Then Jesus actually focusing His answer to anyone today who sacrifices for the cause of Christ in that last sentence and tells us that we will receive a hundredfold and then eternal life.
