Hello family and friends. How are you doing? You’re probably like Cindi and me; praying more than we’ve ever prayed before, watching the news for a downturn in cases of the virus that continues to move throughout the world, following the rules, staying strong in our reliance on God who never makes a mistake and always keeps His promises, and working when and where we can to serve God, serve others, and do the job and is ours to do to keep moving forward.
How can we describe the day and time in which we live? Unprecedented…Unbelievable…Difficult…A testing of our faith – All true. But there have been generations before us who have experienced such times as this, maybe even worse. And we’re here today because they did what they “had” to do. They climbed mountains and traveled down deep into the valley. They made sacrifices. They suffered through sickness, sorrow, and death. They spent many sleepless nights in prayer, hoping for God’s light to shine through the pain, sorrow, and loss. They didn’t give up. They didn’t give out. They didn’t give in. We too have mountains to climb, valleys to traverse, sacrifices to make, and suffering to endure. We too are spending many nights in prayer for ourselves, our family and friends, our governing authorities, and for the world. We too continue in hope in God who sees our needs, knows our circumstances, and is even now intervening on our behalf.
Psalm 127:1 says, “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.”
Psalm 128:1 says, “Blessed is the one who fears the Lord, who walks in His ways. When you eat the labor of your hands, you shall be happy, and it shall be well with you.”
Psalm 130 says, “Out of the depths I have cried to You, O Lord; Lord, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications. If you, Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with You, that You may be feared. I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I do hope. My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning – Yes, more than those who watch for the morning. O Israel (Just put your name or the Harding Street Church of Christ, or America in place of Israel), hope in the Lord. For with the Lord there is mercy, and with Him is abundant redemption. And He shall redeem Israel (You, me, us) from all his (our) iniquities.”
IN GOD WE TRUST – We still do. I do. Do you?
