Whether in the storm or at peace we only have one life to live! How are you living yours? Can you believe that only about 3 weeks ago we were going about life in our usual routines in Morrilton, Arkansas? We didn’t realize that something called Coronavirus – COVID-19 was already moving toward us at first appearing in Wuhan, China with a beginning so very small, unseen…not even noticed until a low-grade fever, a cough, then difficulty breathing, then out of nowhere terrible sickness and death to many who were “vulnerable.” Even the healthy, fit, and young are not immune. Before anyone could even say “pandemic” the entire world was enveloped in fear and frustration. So many people around the world are praying, hoping, and working to find the answers to these new and extremely complicated questions. What shall we do? Well, some will answer: Wash your hands – This, our parents and grandparents taught us all our lives. I guess we now see just how important this simple directive really is. Some will say: Isolate yourself at home and only come out of the house if vitally necessary – But we have to have food and other necessities of life. We are told to “social distance” ourselves from others. We are. I hope this works to “flatten the curve.” We’ll see. One thing is for sure; There is beyond the azure blue, a God concealed from human sight, He tinted skies with heavenly hue and framed the worlds with His great might. Our God, He is alive, in Him we live and we survive. From dusk our God created man, He is our God, the great I AM. Yep – 728-B in our Harding Street hymnbooks.
Only “a moment” ago, back in January we were talking about how much we were looking forward to spring. Well, here we are. James wrote about life in chapter 4, verse 14; “Life is even as a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.” Our entire life is within that “vapor.”
I’m so very sad when I think about the many plans we had for the Spring. Birthday and Anniversary Potlucks we planned to have using our new kitchen and deck, the monthly Area Wide Fellowship we planned to host, our Spring Gospel Meeting, and many other activities and events are now postponed until we can safely meet without jeopardizing our health. We’re just doing the best we can until we can do better. We hope and pray that we can host our annual Vacation Bible School as soon as possible. We’ll see how it goes.
Today, April 7th one year ago we welcomed Brother Geoffrey Bane as our Youth Minister. Geoffrey is now married to Angel and continues to work hard during these most difficult times to support and help our youth and the entire congregation in many ways every day. Thank you, Geoffrey for all you have done for us over the past year. May God help us to move ever forward in and with the gospel of Christ.
Please continue in prayer for your Christian brothers and sisters at Harding Street. Also remember that the church is still open for any and all who are in need. Brother Charlie, Brother Geoffrey, and I are ready to help you in your time of need. Thank you for your support for us and for the church during these troublesome times.
