We’re already 9 days into 2020. How are you progressing with your resolutions? Remember that a resolution can be, a pledge, promise, or vow to a new or renewed purpose, a decision to change, a goal that we set for ourselves, a desire to be better, stronger, closer, and more like Jesus every day in this new year.
James 1:19 – Listen more in general but especially to God’s word. Talk less, still saying what needs to be said, but patiently and with grace. Silence is not something to fear or fill. How often do we try to fill silence with noise? More than you think. Test yourself to see.
Matthew 7:24 – Talk to God every day about everything. This really helps during the day. Take the time. Jesus’ disciples asked Him to help them, to teach them to pray (Luke 11:1). He did. He is still teaching.
Psalm 1:2 – Focus on God and follow His directions. Life is full of distractions. Of course in order to follow His directions, you must know His directions. How can you know? Read the Bible and apply what you learn to my life.
Psalm 27:14 – Wait on the Lord. This is a hard one. God’s timing is always just right. God is never in a hurry. We must walk at God’s pace.
Psalm 23 – The Lord is my Shepherd. He leads, provides, disciplines, and protects. Our task is to follow, hope, submit, and walk with Him. Psalm 127:1 is a good verse to remember: “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.” I want the Lord to build and watch.
2 Peter 1:5-10 – Work and grow a little bit every day. Every day add to your faith, virtue, knowledge, self-control, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love.
Philippians 3:12-14 – Let go of yesterday. Don’t borrow from tomorrow. Live today. Press on toward the goal.
CHURCH PROJECT NEWS: Our new multimedia screen (To be installed Saturday). Remember that we are a work in progress. When we need to raise and lower the screen we can do so without too much trouble and distraction.
Our new 14 X 40 deck on the north side of the annex will soon be taking shape. Collin Hammett has taken on this project along with the builder, Tim Files from Little Rock. Our deck will include lighting and picnic tables to use for our get-togethers, reunions, and celebrations. Our children will be able to safely go outside in the fenced play area without entering the parking lot.
Our new 2020 Church Directory is almost ready. Thank you to Becca and Abigail for all the hard work you have put into this big project.
AREA WIDE FELLOWSHIP – THIS TUESDAY (14th) – 5:30 PM – We are hosting the Area Wide Fellowship this week.
