Good morning. Welcome to Harding Street Church of Christ and the first session in our Conway County Gospel Meeting. I have the honor today to preach the first lesson in the series entitled “Lord, Teach Us…” Our plan is to allow Jesus to teach us about worship; How should we remember Christ in the Lord’s Supper (This morning), How we should share the “good news” (Brother Bane this evening at 7:00 p.m.), How we should pray (Brother Keith Moore from Center Ridge on Monday at 7:00 p.m.), How we should give and be good stewards of the riches God has blessed us with (Brother Rod Leslie from Downtown Morrilton on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.), then finally how we should sing (Cody Bradford from Perryville on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.). I hope you will make plans to be here for every session. Schedule is on the front of your bulletin. God is so good to us.
BIRTHDAY and ANNIVERSARY LUNCH TODAY: Today immediately following our Bible classes we will have a church potluck lunch together up in the Annex to celebrate October birthdays and anniversaries. We usually meet for Bible study at 10:00 or so and dismiss at 11:00. Everyone is invited, especially those who have a birthday or anniversary in October. Come and celebrate with us.
Your Harding Street eldership has been prayerfully and carefully considering adding qualified men to serve this great congregation with them. This morning during the announcements listen for instructions as to our plans to add Brother Olen Hill and Brother Ron Semanek as additional elders. Over the next two weeks please read from the Bible regarding the work and the qualifications of elders (Acts 20:17-38, 1 Timothy 3:1-7, 11, and Titus 1:5-9). If anyone knows of anything that would disqualify these men please let them know and then the eldership. We plan on appointing these two men to the eldership on Sunday morning, November 3. Thank you so much for your prayers, your encouragement, and your support for the Lord’s church at Harding Street. May God continue to bless us with His grace and mercy.
Wednesday Evening Bible Study changes: We want to honor God in everything we do, especially in our meetings together (1 Corinthians 14:40). We also want to consider the fact that during the winter months darkness falls very early and our children need proper rest in order to function well the next morning as everyone prepares for school and work. This past Wednesday evening we made a few changes to the order of our service that will allow for a more efficient use of our time and we hope, more Bible study time. We now begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. with a few announcements, singing, prayer, and a devotional lesson from God’s word. We will always offer an opportunity for prayer, restoration, and obedience to the gospel of Christ with a hymn of invitation. After a prayer we dismiss to our classes and then dismiss for home at 8:00 p.m. We hope this positive change will be beneficial to the church as we grow closer to God and to one another.
HARDING STREET CHURCH DIRECTORY: We’re working on the new directory now and will soon have a copy ready for approval then copies for every family Thank you again for your help and your patience as we move ever forward.
