Hello to you on this beautiful Friday in July. Glad you stopped by this post. We worship to honor God Sunday, today, and every day. Sunday is special. Each and every Sunday we sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs together with grace in our hearts to the Lord (Colossians 3:16). We pray together lifting up our hearts to God. God can and will supply our every need according to His gracious will (Philippians 4:19). We share in the Lord’s Supper; the unleavened bread representing Christ’s body and the fruit of the vine representing His blood given in His plan to save us all. According to Paul’s letter to Corinth (11:23-28) when we share in the Lord’s Supper we are to remember Christ’s sacrifice as we examine ourselves that we may be spiritually strong, healthy, and alive. We give money to pay bills, help the needy, and further the preaching and teaching of the gospel of Christ (1 Corinthians 16:2). We hear a lesson from God’s word (Acts 20:7) that will help us grow in the knowledge of God and in His grace. This Sunday we will continue in our series entitled “Every Christian Should – REMOVE.” Last Sunday we looked at how every Christian should REJOICE. Rejoicing is not possible when we have the burden of sin and sorrow in our lives. Jesus is such a Good Shepherd. He came to set us free from whatever binds and burdens us. In Hebrews 12:1 the Bible teaches us that we can “lay aside (remove) every weight and the sin that so easily ensnares us.” Jesus makes this possible. This sounds simple and really, it is. Christ Jesus empowers every Christian to lay aside every weight and every. We can do this, not within our own power, but with His power. When sorrow and sin is removed, rejoicing automatically results.
I hope you took advantage of the opportunity to attend a night or two of the annual “Gospel Gathering” hosted by the Robinson and Center congregation in Conway this week. What a blessing it is to live in central Arkansas. There were 500+ at every service Sunday to Thursday night and the speakers were outstanding. And the singing? – Wow! What an experience! Tonight is the final night of the revival.
COMING SOON at Harding Street – 2020 Church Directory! There has been a slight change on the dates for our new church directory. We will start taking pictures for the directory on Sunday, September 1st after Bible class in the “ladies” classroom. Members with last name letters A through C please plan on staying a few minutes after Bible class to get your picture made. Becca Brossard will be taking your picture. Geraldine Crow and Gereta Semanek will be assisting. We had planned to start in August, but with final vacation plans and school starting September is a better plan. Did I have to mention “school starting?” No worries students and teachers: You have a few more summer days left. Enjoy!
