Can you believe it? July already! I hope you had a safe and enjoyable 4th of July holiday last week. Cindi and I along with our friends from Florida were happy to be a part of the Independence Day Piecemakers’ Club quilt giving ceremony at Arch Ford in Plumerville on the 4th. The club meets regularly to make beautiful quilts and then at certain times in the year they present them to veterans. They presented 43 quilts on Thursday to our veterans in Conway county. I saw several of you there too. Later we were able to watch the fireworks show at the Morrilton City Park. Too many of our men and women have had to give too much for the freedoms we enjoy today. May God help us to remain a people who promote and live the values we find in God’s word, the Bible. Did you get to go by and see the 836 American flags placed in front of the hospital? Wow! What a sight to see!
Thank you for making our friends and every guest we have at Harding Street welcome and special. I hope each and every member of the church of Christ at Harding Street will realize just how blessed we are and open our eyes to see the needs of others.
Sunday Morning we began a new lesson series entitled “Every Christian Should.” We will looked at how every Christian should REJOICE. In July we’ll look at Remove, Remember, and finally Reflect in this four lesson series. We have so much to be thankful for. Even when life gets tough (and you and I both know about the difficulties of life) we can find a way to rejoice. Paul wrote in II Corinthians 4:9 about-the difficulties of life. “We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; stuck down, but not destroyed.” In verses 16-18 he writes, “Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” My grandson’s soccer coach is Little Rock Rangers player Nick Doyle. He has posted a video on Facebook that will really motivate us to find the strength and courage we need to face the challenges we have to face every day. Go to Facebook…then Little Rock Rangers…click on Videos…then Big Game Tomorrow! Are you ready?! Watch this video and be inspired to move ever forward up that mountain you have to climb, because when you finally reach the top of the mountain, you have the best view you’ve ever seen.
Our young men did an outstanding job on Sunday evening (6/30) directing the entire service. Make sure you tell our youth minister Brother Geoffrey Bane and all our young men and women how proud we are of their service and the Christian life they live every day. Our youth program at Harding Street deserves our very best efforts and support. We plan on having our youth group direct one of the services every 5th Sunday in the year.
When you arrived on Sunday did you notice that the auditorium looked a little bit “different,” brighter and a little more vibrant? We have new LED lights today. A huge thank you to Collin Hammett and his men for helping us in this area. When you see Brother Collin, shake his hand a little longer and tighter for his expertise in this area. We’ll need to make a slight change on how we present our announcements and the sermon PowerPoint notes, but we’ll adjust and be even better.
God is blessing us. We are thankful. And by the way, have you been a more merciful person since last Wednesday night? Read Jesus’ statement in Luke 6:36 again.
