Hello friends. HAPPY FATHER’S DAY IS SUNDAY! As children may we remember the Lord’s command:
“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with promise; that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth” – Ephesians 6:1-3.
And dads, remember God’s word: “And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord” – Ephesians 6:4.
Our VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL @ HARDING STREET begins Sunday at 10:15 a.m. and then Sunday evening through Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. “OUR BIG GOD” is our theme. Classrooms are freshly decorated, our VBS songs are ready to sing, and the snacks are prepared. Now we just need you and your friends to be present for a grand VBS. VBS is always one of the highlights of the year at Harding Street. Adults: We will have sessions for you too with a different teacher each night. Today all the adults are to meet in the auditorium for Bible study. Come and see. You’ll be so glad you did.
The sermon today will be the third lesson in our series; “Three Lessons from Two Fishing Trips – Jesus’ PROMISES.” Simon, James, and John had fished all night and caught nothing. The next day Jesus asked Simon to launch out into the deep for a catch, Simon followed Jesus’ instructions and filled his boat with fish, so many that he had to call in reinforcements. Jesus’ PRESENCE, His PLAN, and His PROMISES make all the difference in the world when it comes to living a happy successful fulfilling life. When Jesus makes a promise, He keeps it. Period.
Take a close look at the list of those who are sick, shut-in, grieving, and in the military today and remember each of them and their families in your prayers, calls, and visits. Prayer is powerful. We may not be able to do many things, but we certainly can pray for our family, friends, neighbors, and others who are suffering. God hears and answers our every prayer.
We have so much to be thankful for at Harding Street. Our church secretaries do more than I can list each and every week to see that the church office is organized and operating. Thank you, Rosetta and Abigail. Our bulletin is beautiful, well-written, and full of the information we need to stay up-to-date on the happening’s at Harding Street. Thank you, Christine. Our facilities are always clean and the lawn and shrubs are trimmed and healthy. Thank you, Charles and Mirna and Tony and Evan. We have wonderful teachers each and every Sunday and Wednesday in our Bible classes. Thank you, teachers. They say that one of the most important positions in the church is the greeter. Thank you, Brother Chism and our greeters for coming early to hand out bulletins and welcome each member and guest with a warm smile and a hearty handshake. I enjoy looking up at our multi-media screen to see the song selection and stay informed during worship. Thank you, Abigail and Evan. Every other Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. we visit in two of our local nursing homes for singing, snacks, and punch. Thank you, to every Christian brother and sister for giving your time, talent, and treasure to remember those who are shut-in. Every other Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. several of our ladies meet in the ladies classroom for Bible study, fellowship, and ministry. Thank you, ladies. I could go on and on. Thank you. We are blessed. I am honored to be a member of the Harding Street Church of Christ. May God continue to bless us with His riches.
