Hello and welcome family and friends. It is March 14, 2019. I’m really looking forward to Sunday (17th). Plans are to honor God in our singing, prayer, giving, preaching, and the Lord’s Supper, and then study the Bible in one of our classes for a few minutes, then I hope you can be here for our monthly Birthday/Anniversary Celebration Potluck after Bible study today (about 11:30).
God is so good to us. Don’t be fooled. The world we live in is beautiful and good. Many (probably the majority) in the world are peaceful, loving, and helpful. Don’t be fooled. There are some (just a few) who are vengeful, hateful, and selfish. Let’s remember this and not get too caught up in the storms of life that come and go. Every day we make choices; choices that bring us and to the world peace and unity or confusion and division. Just think about how wonderful the world would be if we ALL followed Jesus’ word and His example in life. Love one another (John 13:34-35). Forgive one another (Ephesians 4:32). Honor your parents (Ephesians 6:1). Do what is right (Romans 12:9). Obey the governing authorities (Romans 13:1-3). Tell the truth (Matthew 5:37). Help one another (Galatians 6:2). Work (II Timothy 3:15-17). Give (Luke 6:38). Pray (I Thessalonians 5:17). Care (I Corinthians 12:25). Respect (Hebrews 10:24-25). Don’t quit (Revelation 2:10). Trust and be trustworthy (Proverbs 3:5). Be good (I Timothy 6:18). Can you see how living the Christian life is the only way to live? I hope so. Live today in a different way. Put these simple things into practice and see for yourself what a positive difference you can make in the world, our world, God’s world.
The sermon Sunday morning will once again focus on “A Scripture Text for Life.” We’ve talked about Eve’s battle with the temptation of deception and distraction. Oh, if she had not forgotten God’s word, if she had remembered and kept His commands…Our text gives us the results of remembering and keeping, “length of days, long life, and peace they will add to you. Last Sunday (10th) we talked about King David’s temptation of lustful passion. You would think that a man after God’s own heart would have been stronger. You see, David was in the wrong place (on the roof top of the palace instead of on the battle field) at the wrong time (in the evening in the spring with most of the men of Israel away) doing the wrong thing (being a “peeping Tom”). Today will focus on Simon Peter as he warmed himself by the fire while Jesus was being interrogated (Matthew 26:69-75). On Sunday evening we’ll study about God’s Eternal Promise – Forgiveness. Sin is our problem. God alone hold the solution – forgiveness. Aren’t you glad? Come and see and know.
